FIFA Deputy President Issa Hayatou.

A FIFA delegation led by Deputy President Issa Hayatou arrived in Beijing on Thursday and met with the staff of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG, including those from its Sport, Games Services and other departments), discussing the latest development of the preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games.

Following the talks, the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) delegation visited the hotel for the Olympic footballers. The members of the delegation spoke highly of the conditions of the new hotel which will go into operation soon.

Delegation members also toured the National Stadium which hosts the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games and the football finals. Deeply impressed by the building's style, the delegation expected successful football competitions in such an elegant facility.

Sources said FIFA's inspection tour already covered Shanghai and Tianjin and on Friday the delegation will go to Shenyang to continue its inspection on Olympic preparations.

Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin and Shenyang are all Olympic football venues.
