Step 1 Warm-up
1 Let’s enjoy a song first. (Happy New Year)
2 T: What’s the song about? S: 新年
T: Yes. It’s about New Year. (板书,并教授year)
3 T: When is New Year? Look at the calendar(日历). It’s on January 1st.
4 T: What can we say on New Year’s Day?
S: Happy New Year(揭题,带读)
5 What do people usually do? From the song, we know that people usually sing and dance. (教授sing, dance)What else? People also give presents to each other.
Step 2 Presentation
1 T: Look, here are some presents. Who is he? He is Uncle John. (教授uncle)Can you say hello to Uncle John?
Ss: Hi/Hello/Good morning/Nice to meet you/Happy New Year, Uncle John.
2 T: Now let’s watch and answer who can receive Uncle John’s presents. (观看动画)Let’s check the answer.
S: Helen, Mike and Tim.
3 T: There are three presents. Which one is for Helen? Which one is for Mike? Which one is for Tim? Please look, read and find. You can read the story fast and find out the key sentences. Open your books and find the answer, please.

7 Let’s dub.
8 There are two scenes in the text. Three students a group, choose the part you like and act it out. If you act fluently, you can get one star. If you imitate perfectly, you can get two stars. If you add gesture, you can get three stars.
9 It’s culture time. There are some differences between China and Western countries when people receive presents. In China, it is impolite to open the present to sb’s face. But in Western countries, people will open the present immediately, praise it and express their gratitude.
