Unit8 At Christmas（第二课时）

一、教学目标：

1. Knowledge goals

(1) To study the new vocabulary song, him, us and expressions what do you do at Christmas? merry Christmas, what’s wrong with …?

(2) To learn the grammar of the time order.

2. Ability goals

(1) To enable students to talk about Christmas in English by learning the useful vocabulary.

(2) To train Ss’ ability of working in pairs.

3. Moral goals

(1) To strengthen students’ interest in English by learning the western culture.

(2) To educate students to do things step by step.

二、教学重点、难点

The key points are to master the words song, him, us and expressions What do you do at Christmas? Merry Christmas! What’s wrong with …? and to learn the grammar of the time order.

The difficult points are to talk about Christmas with partners and act the dialogue out.

三、教学过程：

Step 1 Warm-up

Enjoy a song and then have a free talk with Ss.

Step 2 Revision

1、T: First, read story time together.

2、T: Retell the story with the help of some key words.

3、T: Act this dialogue.

This part is designed to lead to the learning of step 3.

Step3 Grammar

1、Teach: What do you do at Christmas. Guide students to finish the exercise on page 81.

2、Teach the words: first, next, then, finally. Students have learned first and then in Unit 1 and Unit 2, so I will lay more emphasis on teaching next and finally.

3、Teach the grammar of the time order.

4、Show the teacher’s timetable and ask Ss to discribe it with first, next, then, finally. For example, in the morning first I wake up and put on clothes. Next, I brush my teeth and wash my face. Then , I have breakfast. Finally, I go to school by car.

5、Ss talk about themselves like this. They can use these four words to talk about what do they do after school or at the weekends or so on.

Step4 Cartoon time

1、T: Look at the pictures, who are they?S: Bobby, Sam and ….

2、T: What do they do at Christmas? Please watch the cartoon. S: They buy a Christmas tree and then sing Christmas songs.

3、Students read the story by themselves first, next ask and answer, then fill in the forms.

Sam and Bobby likes Christmas(have a big dinner, a lot of fun).

Mr Turkey don’t like Christmas(People eat him).

Teach the new words: song, him, us and expressions merry Christmas, what’s wrong with …?

4、Listen to the tape and notice the pronunciations and intonations.

5、Read after the tape.

6、Choose one kind of reading and read in groups.

A、Read this story together.

B、Read in roles.

C、Act the dialogue.

Step5 Consolidation

Mr Turkey is not happy. Let’s help him. Here students can come up with a lot of ideas to make Mr. Turkey happy.

We have a lot of fun on Christmas Day. First,... Next,... Then,... Finally,... We are all very happy…

Step6 Homework

1. Read the story and act it out.

2. Share your Christmas plan.
